About the event
Lost lead weights and fishing gear accumulate on the seafloor over time at popular fishing spots, like at Rystraumen/Hella.
With the Dykk Etter Bly project, we invite divers to colect fishing gear and drop it off at our collecting station. After 12 months of collect, an artist will convert this mass of fishing gear into an art piece, which we will use to draw the attention on this issue, and advocate for the use of lead-free sinkers.
During this event, you are welcome to join to support the scuba divers, carry some of the diving equipment, and make sure no one is fishing while they are in the water. It is also an opportunity to see this site, in case you would like to dive there one time. The current is extremely strong, the window to dive is very short: it is best to visit the site once with trained divers first.
There will be cars starting from Tromsø, if you need a ride.
