Snowshoe with a mission on Tromsø island
Wed, 29 Jan
|Tromsø
Rissa is welcoming a small group of citizen scientists on snowshoes. Together, we'll put up or check nestboxes, with one purpose: to help our research partner better understand the effect of artificial light on birds.

Time & Location
29 Jan 2025, 10:00 – 14:00
Tromsø, Conrad Holmboes veg 89, 9011 Tromsø, Norway
About the event
As a part of a small party, you will snowshoe with a mission like no other.
Together, we will locate nestboxes and feeding stations with a GPS. You will check the nest content and fill the feeders. To fullfil our mission, we will need to leave the beaten paths and explore.
No rush. In the Arctic, winter slows down the course of time. We are in nature.
The participants contribute to a project led by our researcher partner at Tromsø University. What are the effects of light pollution on the tits that spend the winter in Tromsø? That's what the Tromsø Tits project intends to find out, with the help of the citizen scientists!
