Kelp & urchins: Citizen Science at Bukta

The best way to celebrate 17.Mai ! We will be in the water for an hour, documenting urchin density and marine biodiversity inside our study site. Snacks and hot drinks provided to the volunteers :)

About the event
After scouting for the ideal site, then mapping its perimeter, we now need to start documenting the urchin density and biodiversity across the urchin barren.
For this, we will follow the methods we co-designed with our research partner at the Tromsø University Museum.
Be aware though: We won't remove urchins just yet!
No diving experience is required to participate in this event.
The only requirement is to sign up here.
You can contribute from land or in the sea.
Rissa CS does not provide diving equipment. If you don't own a wetsuit, we recommend that you become a member of SUT (Studentenes Undervannsklubb Tromsø). This would give you access to all the equipment you need to snorkel or scubadive. Get in touch with us if you have questions.
