2-hour kittiwalk in Tromsø city center

This event promotes a more regenerative approach to tourism in Tromsø by inviting travelers to take part in hands-on nature conservation efforts.

Together, we will map the nests, read the rings, keep a watch on illegal nest destructions and experience Tromsø as a city where coexistence is a challenge.

For two hours, you will use Rissa Citizen Science app to enter our observations, record how many adult birds hang out around the colonies, and identify individuals marked with a plastic ring. We will spend time around the kittiwake hotels, these artistic structures designed to lure kittiwakes away from buildings to reduce perceived nuisance and facilitate coexistence.
