Join a free daytrip to Kvaløya & restore nature

For travelers and
students only!

The Traceless Northern Lights Tourism Project

The nonprofit Rissa Citizen Science and the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) are partnering to reduce the negative environmental and social impacts of northern lights tourism in Tromsø, with a particular focus on campfires.

Travellers are invited to become part of the solution by helping remove campfires and restore vegetation at northern lights viewing hotspots.

Join us for a day trip on Kvaløya, the Whale Island!
The event is free but the registration is binding.

  • Pickup time: 10:00 (from Tromsø Activities Hostel, Storgata 107)

  • Return time: 15:00

More about the project here on Rissa CS' website, and on NINA's website.

This is not a commercial tour: This event is an opportunity to raise awareness and promote leave-no-trace practices among travelers and northern lights guides.
