What is the effects of light pollution on songbirds in the Arctic? That's what the Tromsø Tits project is looking at, and we are supporting this research project by building nestboxes. Then in January, we'll deploy these nestboxes where there is still some forest left on Tromsøya.

Om arrangementet
The Tromsø Tits project is led by Dr Tomotani, at UiT/University in Tromsø.
One goal of the project is to better understand the effects of artificial light at night (ALAN) on songbirds, in areas in the Arctic, like Tromsø, where light pollution is high.
Followin up on the nestbox challenge (https://www.rissa-cs.org/post/the-nestbox-challenge-can-120-volunteers-build-60-nestboxes-in-one-hour), 60 nestboxes had been assembled. They need to be finalized and painted. We are doing this to support the Tromsø Tits project, as a way to address the issue of light pollution in Tromsø.
