Om arrangementet
This event promotes a more regenerative approach to tourism in Tromsø by inviting travelers to take part in hands-on nature conservation efforts.
Together, we will map the nests, rescue fallen chicks, read the rings, keep a watch on illegal nest destructions and look at Tromsø city center from an original perspective.
How do people in Tromsø coexist with a highly endangered species that finds refuge in the city center during the nesting season? That's what you will find out if you join this easy walk.
For two hours, you will use a mobile app to survey the nests, record how many adult birds hang out around the colonies, how many chicks are in the nests, and identify individuals marked with a plastic ring. We will finish the walk at the kittiwake hotels, artistic structures designed to lure kittiwakes away from buildings to reduce perceived nuisance and facilitate coexistence.
